Monday, September 10

Caravan travels from Baltimore to DC at 11 AM

1-3 PM: Lobby Day Training at St. Stephen & the Incarnation Episcopal Church for Caravan participants

4:00 – 6:00 PM: Welcome Reception for Caravan Participants and local organizers at the  American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) (Not a public event)

6:00pm – 7:00pWalk from AFL-CIO to Freedom Plaza

Gather in front of AFL-CIO building 815 16th Street NW (btw H and I)

March past White House to Freedom Plaza

7:00 pm Rally at Freedom Plaza

Welcome the Caravan for Peace with Justice and Dignity to Washington, D.C. ( Freedom Plaza: Pennsylvania Avenue between 13th and 14th Streets, NW)

Tuesday, September 11

8:30-10 AM: Sponsored by the Mexico Institute at the Wilson Center Mexico Institute Event:

The Peace Movement in Mexico: Efforts to bring justice to the victims of violence in the country

12-2pm Panel with Members of the Caravan for Peace Sponsored by the American University Kay Spiritual Life Center (4400 Massachusetts Avenue Northwest)

4:30 PM- 6:30 PM: 4:30 – 6:30pm Caravan for Peace with Justice and Dignity: A Bi-national Initiative  

Panel sponsored by WOLA and the Latin American Studies at George Mason University (George Mason University Johnson Center Room D, Third Floor)

 

6 PM -7:30 PM: U.S. Guns and Violence in Mexico: A Bi-national Call for Solutions.

2:30pm – 4:00pm: Briefing in Senate—Russell 385

5:30- Welcome at St. Stephen & the Incarnation Episcopal Church (1525 Newton St. NW

5:30 PM-9 PM: Vigil/ Procesión de la Paz

  • 5:30pm Meet up and speakers at St Stephens Church (1525 Newton Street, NW)
    • Closest Metro: Columbia Heights (green line)
    • 6:30 procession begins from St Stephens Church (strings & drums in front, thousand candles)
    • 7:30pm – 9 pm: Vigil and comments by Caravan and DC area allies at Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park (16th and Euclid Streets, NW)
