Due to Tropical Storm Isaac, the Caravan will not be coming to New Orleans. The event is cancelled.
August 27, New Orleans
Dear friends,
The caravan is not coming to New Orleans due to the hurricane warnings. We greatly appreciate all the effort to welcome and support the Caravan for Peace in their visit to New Orleans. Unfortunately hurricane Isaac approaching our city has made their arrival not impossible but dangerous and dilatory for continuing with their agenda in our city. The caravan has a long way to go before they arrive in Washington DC and we don’t want them to be in a unnecessary situation of danger; we think their departure tomorrow morning would be difficult taking into account that they come in big buses and other people following them come in their private automobiles.
Despite this cancellation, we are asking for local support to this caravan by sending your contact information (especially if you represent an organization), so we can send them a list of contacts from New Orleans. We would also like to invite you to send info of organizations and/or people who could help them in Washington D.C. since this is their ultimate destination. They could use more people to support them in the capital.
Let’s stay informed about the efforts the Movement for Peace with Justice and Dignity. Their cause is important not just for the people in Mexico but all those who, in solidarity, understand the claims for Peace with Justice and Dignity that this movement demands (Caravan for Peace with Justice and Dignity).Send your comments and any other information to solidarityinnola@gmail.com
In the meantime, stay safe and prepare for what is to come weatherwise to us here in New Orleans.
