Maria Ignacia Gonzalez Vela

Mother of Andrés Ascención González, disappeared on March 27, 2011 in the city of Matamoros, Tamaulipas.

“More than a year ago, drug dealers took my son. On March 27, he was on his way to Laredo, Texas, to pick up his things. He decided it was time to return to Mexico, he wanted to get his college degree. He was being accompanied by an acquaintance of the family, BraulioHernández. They were passing by Matamoros when he called me to say everything was fine and he would return soon. We were on the phone when I suddenly heard him tell Braulio: “go faster!”

Those were the last words I heard from my son.”
