Mother and sister of Miguel Orlando Muñoz, victim of forced disappearance in Ciudad Juárez on May 8, 1993.
“On this given case, there are different testimonials –all of them congruent and agree amongst each other- which assure that Miguel Orlando Muñoz was last seen on May 8, 1993 within the premises of the 26th Battalion of Ciudad Juárez, Chihuaha. Also, in the file there are many statements that point out that Miguel Orlando Muñoz had stood up against many difficulties with superior military personel, which, apparently stood in close relation with information he possessed about drug-trafficking operations in the area, which was the motive for those threats. Besides, a month and a half prior to his disappearance, while he was on vacation with his family, Miguel Orlando repeatedly said that “the green’s enemy is the green itself” proving his distrust within the army. Finally, his disappearance was followed up by a series of forgeries and robbery of key evidence to find out his whereabouts.”
